Coming courtesy of the wonderful site www.nonleaguematters.co.uk on the message board, prorege has added a Scottish update to my Grounds For Concern Thread. It reads as follows:
Stirling Albion have survived two winding up orders but various proposals to buy the club have been rejected. They could quite concievably go to the wall at any time. Furthermore, their landlords are threatening to evict them from ther stadium due to unpaid rent. Cowdenbeath seem to be subject to a potential move. They've been heavily fined by the SFL for not bringing their ground up to Club Licensing standards. They cannot make the pitch bigger due to the stock car racing track and will be subject to an increasing fine every year. They canot afford to ugrade the floodlights. As I posted in the Other British Non League Section, they could be set for a merger with Spartans and a move to Edinburgh. Dumbarton are still thought to be seeking a site for a new stadium. Their Strathclyde Homes Stadium would valuable for housing if and when the recession ends. Airdrie United and Clyde ae in even worse financial straits than most other clubs. Either or both could fall quickly if the domino effect begins. East Stirlingshire and St Mirren's old grounds are still there, although in a state of disrepair, should anyone fancy having a look.
Ayr United are staying put for the moment and Highland League Clachnacuddin are already announcing pre-season plans for 2010/11 when at one time they seemed likely to fold.
